Breachers Up for Sale

ALL GONE! THANKS FOR PLAYING! Some of you may know that I've been playing, I mean working diligently, in the shop lately. I have finished my first batch of Breachers, also know as Bottle Openers. I am learning a lot and enjoying the processes thus far. The best is working with the anodizing. It's almost like magic watching the colors develop. I am offering 4 for sale. The top two, #1-2, are single-sided, and sell for $35 + $5 shipping. The bottom two, #3-4, are double-sided and sell for $45 +$5 shipping. #1 is a blue with purple highlights, #2 is a bright pink- leaning purple, #3 is an iridescent peacock, and #4 is a subtle blue-tinged greyish silver. Leave a comment below with your color choice and I will get back to the winners. Payment may be made to our PayPal address: r.s.rogers@hotmail.com.

Winner, winner...chicken dinner

Sorry, don't know why that phrase stuck in my head. But we have a winner for the Vector.... Congrats to Jim Greene, lucky #66. I will be emailing you for shipping address in just a few. Thanks everyone for playing along. (and sorry for the delay picking a winner, the exhibit hanging took longer than I thought it would so just got home.)

Lottery

The aqua Vector as seen in the previous post will be available in a lottery starting now and ending Tuesday, Feb. 3, at 1:30PM MST.  The price will be $700 + shipping (usually $7.60 in the US). To enter please send an email to: availableknife@yahoo.com.  This is the only email address we will accept so please make sure to send your message to this and only this one. We will have a random number generator decide the winner on Tuesday. Please only enter once. Good luck. And thanks again for your continued interest.

Introducing the Vector

First, I need to apologize for the lack of posting. Time has a way of zooming away from me anymore. But this post will make up for my lapse. Richard has come up with a new model which has been dubbed The Vector. [caption id="attachment_648" align="aligncenter" width="300"]The Vector The Vector[/caption] [caption id="attachment_641" align="aligncenter" width="300"]The Vector The Vector[/caption] [caption id="attachment_642" align="alignleft" width="300"]Back side of the Vector Back side of the Vector[/caption] [caption id="attachment_649" align="alignleft" width="300"]Back view of the Vector Back view of the Vector[/caption] (Click on photos to enlarge). As you can see it has full Ti scales, grooved flipper tab, and a new style clip. The scales are mill textured, the blade is CPM-154, blade length is 3.25 inches, frame length is 4.5". The base price will be $650, which offers an abrasive-blasted and tumbled finish. The only option at this time is anodizing with polished edges, which will add $50. [caption id="attachment_643" align="alignright" width="169"]Funky cool interior Funky cool interior[/caption] The interior has milled releases to keep the weight down. It weighs in at 2.9 ounces. It also uses 1/16 inch bearings. Either later today or early tomorrow, depending upon our horribly inconsistent internet connectivity, we will offer one for sale. I will let everyone know when and details on how to get in on it. Hope you all like it.

HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY!

As a Golden Rule Girl I try to believe in the goodness of people & you all have clearly shown that to be true in spades the last few days. Richard and I are verklempt/gobsmacked/overwhelmed by the generosity and enthusiasm shown by everyone who has backed this project. We are honored to call you all friends. 'Tis the Season

To spread goodwill to all. This time of year seems to bring out the best in people and we hope that continues throughout the New Year. We'd like to spread the cheer a little farther this year by offering up a First Edition Full Titanium 4F to benefit a very deserving family. They are 'local' friends, well, they live in New Mexico and we consider anyone in the state local! They are also good people. Nathan Barton, a fellow knife knut, his wife Shannon, daughter Allorah, and toddler Hudson have had a rough few years, but this year has been especially hard, medically and financially. Allorah suffers from a very rare autoimmune disease, Juvenile Dermatomyositis along with multiple overlapping syndromes, acquired generalized lipodystrophy, insulin resistant diabetes, severe celiac disease and arthritis. She takes 6 different prescriptions a day along with insulin and every 4 weeks she goes into the hospital for an 8 hour immune globulin IV infusion. She recently was weaned off steroids and chemo injections. So as you can see, she has quite a bit to deal with for any person let alone a teenager. They have to travel quite extensively due to this, as she has specialists in Chicago, Dallas, Denver and Albuquerque. Her main physician is in Chicago. And to top it all off, they lost one of her insurances this year. [caption id="attachment_575" align="alignright" width="300"]Nathan & Allorah in Chicago Hospital earlier this month Nathan & Allorah in Chicago Hospital earlier this month[/caption] Let's join together, no not in a round of caroling as my singing has been known to cause headaches (thank you, child of mine, I love you too) but in helping lift the burden of a fellow knife knut. For a $10 donation your name will be entered into the raffle for a chance at this beauty: [caption id="attachment_571" align="aligncenter" width="300"]4F for Allorah 4F for Allorah[/caption] [caption id="attachment_573" align="alignright" width="300"]Bahama Blue beauty Bahama Blue beauty[/caption] Also included is the finalized version of the new logo dog tag: [caption id="attachment_572" align="aligncenter" width="169"]Logo Dog tag Logo Dog tag[/caption] You are welcome to enter as often as you'd like. The winner will receive the knife free and clear, this is not a chance to buy it but to win it.  100% of all proceeds will be given to the Bartons. We will ship, free of charge, anywhere in the world. You can go to the Facebook Group page https://www.facebook.com/groups/1513731152210963/ for further details. Or use the PayPal Donate button in the post above this. Thank you for helping us keep the Christmas spirit alive by coming to the aid of a child in need. Let's create a miracle for Allorah and her family.

TAA DAA....

Hands in the air 'cause we are rockin' and a rollin' here at the ranch. We would like to introduce our new logo: rogers Hope you all like it as much as we do. We think it's strong, iconic, and very representative of the aesthetic of Richard's work. We were lucky to work with a wonderfully creative designer named Branko Loncar. (there should be an accent mark above the 'c', but do I know how to do that...no, of course not.) His design company is www.ludibes.com. You should check out his work, he's got some amazing logos and artwork. He was a pleasure to work with and his rates are very reasonable. Seriously, we highly recommend him and will be using him again for future work. In the spirit of celebrating we will be giving away this little beauty: [caption id="attachment_564" align="aligncenter" width="300"]Copper dog tag Prototype Copper dog tag

Beads

[caption id="attachment_547" align="aligncenter" width="300"]Freshly turned beads Freshly turned beads[/caption] In between bouts with the Minion Richard's been making some beads. The latest are brass and bronze. While I took pictures of the process he was giving me instructions on how to make them. It seems I will be doing these in the not too distant future. I'm beginning to think I should stop going into his shop. [caption id="attachment_548" align="alignleft" width="168"]Step 1: Place bronze into the collet Step 1: Place bronze into the collet[/caption] [caption id="attachment_549" align="aligncenter" width="168"]Step 2: Start dialing in Step 2: Start dialing in[/caption] [caption id="attachment_550" align="alignright" width="168"]I really need a step stool I really need a step stool[/caption] [caption id="attachment_551" align="alignleft" width="300"]Step 3: Nearly done Step 3: Nearly done[/caption] [caption id="attachment_552" align="aligncenter" width="300"]Step 4: Patina Step 4: Patina[/caption] [caption id="attachment_553" align="aligncenter" width="300"] Step 5: Grind & Buff[/caption] And voila, finished beads.... The Flicker

The Flicker is a new model which marries a slip-joint and a flipper.  It features textured carbon fiber handles, titanium liners, Nylatron washers, and CPM-154. Richard designed these knives specifically for those living in areas which prohibit locking folders. [caption id="attachment_528" align="aligncenter" width="300"]The Flicker The Flicker[/caption] The blade is 3/32" thick, the weight is 1.8 oz., the closed length is 4 1/8" and the open length is 6 7/8". The knife uses Nylatron washers which allow the knife to be thin with a thickness of .415". Flicker1 Richard would like to offer these initial folders to people who live where there are knife restrictions. There will be two of these available the morning of Tuesday, Dec. 2 starting at 10:00 am MST (9:00 PST, 11:00 CST, 12:00 EST) and running for two hours. At the starting time on Tuesday send an email to me at r.s.rogersknives@gmail.com with your location for a chance. At Noon MST, I will use a random number generator to pick the winners. The knife is priced at $450 which includes the titanium bead. More of this model will be available starting in January.

Giving Thanks

[caption id="attachment_523" align="alignnone" width="300"]Happy Thanksgiving! Happy Thanksgiving![/caption] On a day we give thanks for our many blessings it's important to include the people who have enriched our lives. The knife-making community is exactly that -- a community and a blessing. Thank you to all who have included us in your lives. We are better people for having met you and gained your friendships. Whether you celebrate Thanksgiving or not, hope your day was wonderful and THANK YOU.
